WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC’s 3-0 win over defending champions South Georgia Tormenta FC Saturday just keeps adding to the history books as a club record six players were named in the USL League One Team of the Week.
All three Hailstorm goalscorers, Rob Cornwall, Nortei Nortey, and Marky Hernández, were honored in the Team of the Week, as was goalkeeper Lalo Delgado, who kept his second consecutive clean sheet against Tormenta. Defender Bruno Rendon and midfielder Stefan Lukic were also Team of the Week selections.
It is the first Team of the Week selection of 2023 for all six players. Cornwall was named to the Team of the Week three times last season and Nortey and Hernández were honored once each.
After showing their credentials against the defending USL League One Champions, Hailstorm FC will take a step up in competition against USL Championship side Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs.
