WINDSOR, Colo. – After two matches in Week 11 for Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC against North Carolina FC and South Georgia Tormenta FC, Hailstorm FC had two of its members featured in the USL League One Team of the Week. The pair who hail from the British Isles, both excelled to help the team bring home points in each of the first time home fixtures of the season.
Rob Cornwall pulled home his second Team of the Week nomination after having been in the Week 8 team last month. Across the 180 minutes of action, Cornwall completed 84% of his passes and won 83% of his duels. He was perfect with 100% of his tackles and 100% of his dribbles, all while tallying 11 recoveries, six clearances, and five interceptions.
The Irishman joined Northern Colorado after previously playing for Bohemians in the League of Ireland Premier Division and making appearances in the qualifiers for the 2021-22 Europa Conference League. He made 34 appearances for Bohemians across all competitions in 2021, captaining seven of those, and scoring three goals from his center back position.
Nortei Nortey was able to steal a point for Northern Colorado in stoppage time against South Georgia. After a corner, Irvin Parra attempted an overhead kick, but his shot was blocked. The ball fell to Nortey who was in the right place at the right time and scored the equalizer. It was Nortey’s first goal since putting on a Hailstorm uniform. Across two Week 11 matches, Nortey completed nearly 90% of his passes, created two chances and won five ground duels.
A product of the Chelsea youth academy, where he won the 2012 FA Youth Cup, Nortey came to Colorado after playing for Queen of the South in Scotland. He made 12 appearances for Queen of the South in the 2020-21 season with ten coming in the Scottish Championship and two in the Scottish League Cup.
The pair join Parra, Denso Ulysse, and Ethan Vanacore-Decker as members of the Hailstorm to make a Team of the Week this season. Parra made it in Week 2, Week 3, and Week 5. Ulysse and Vanacore-Decker were also featured in Week 2.
