WINDSOR, Colo. – Midfielder Wolfgang Prentice has joined Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on loan from Oakland Roots. The Redondo Beach native will be with Northern Colorado for the rest of the 2022 season. The deal is pending league and federation approval.
“It’s a new place for me, I’ve never been to Colorado before,” Prentice said. “I’m always excited for new opportunities, so I’m excited to be here.”
Prentice played his college soccer at California State University at Northridge. He played in 35 games, scoring four goals and adding five assists for the Matadors. He spent some of his youth career with the Los Angeles Galaxy’s youth academy. Prentice participated in the 2015 US National Team U-15 camp as well.
Prior to joining the Roots this season, Prentice played for National Independent Soccer Association side San Diego 1904 in 2021. In his time there he played in 16 games and scored one goal. He made his debut for Oakland against fellow USL League One outfit, Greenville Triumph when the two met in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
“Wolfgang has come in highly motivated, great attitude, young, eager, humble,” head coach Éamon Zayed said. “He wants to get his head down and get some game time. He’s highly rated by the Oakland coaching staff, so I’m obviously happy to get him in and hopefully he’ll add to our squad in the second half of the season.”
The 118-acre Future Legends Complex will feature two stadiums, multiple baseball diamonds and multi-purpose fields, an indoor sports arena, lodging, and retail; and will host guests for major sports tournaments, events, leagues, and more.
