The Hailstorm are set to face the Flamingos.
WINDSOR, Colo. – A storm is brewing as Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC heads to the Midwest to take on Forward Madison FC. The Flamingos come into tomorrow’s match after having played Union Omaha on Tuesday. The match ended scoreless with both sides adding a point in their pursuits of the playoffs.
After an exchange of loans with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, Phil Breno will not be the keeper for Madison, as he was last time Northern Colorado played Madison. Raiko Arozarena has started the last two matches for the Flamingos, keeping clean sheets in both matches. The Cuban keeper has made six saves on his way to the clean sheets.
Michael Maldonado has been a key player this year for Madison, and they will be without him in this matchup, due to suspension. The midfielder has created 31 chances and contributed three assists. He has also added one goal and has played in all 16 games for the club this season.
Northern Colorado are coming off their fourth clean sheet of the year. The team’s most recent match ended in a draw with the Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and they brought home one point from the nil-nil contest. With the league standings as close as they are, every point will be crucial in the hunt for the postseason. Currently the difference between third and ninth is only three points, with the top six qualifying to the USL League One Playoffs.
Danny Robles will be a player to watch for the Hailstorm tomorrow. Off the bench or in the starting 11, Robles has been a consistent contributor for the club all season. He has touched the pitch in every game this season, the only other to do so is Arthur Rogers. Robles has scored two goals and added 24 tackles on the defensive end, he has been a staple of the midfield all season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CDT/6:00 p.m. MDT at the Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin. Expect the weather to be overcast with the temperature in the high 70’s at kickoff. The game, as with all USL League One games this season, will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The future home of Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, 118-acre Future Legends Complex will feature 6,500-seat TicketSmarter Stadium, 2,500-seat Future Legends Field, multiple baseball diamonds, and multi-purpose fields, an indoor sports arena, lodging, and retail; and will host guests for major sports tournaments, events, leagues, and more.
