Northern Colorado heads to Omaha to take on the Owls.
WINDSOR, Colo. – Fresh off their 2-0 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC are off to face Union Omaha. The Owls have been the toughest team to defeat in USL League One as of late, going unbeaten in their last eight matches. Their most recent defeat came to the Greenville Triumph back on June 18.
Omaha midfielder JP Scearce was named in last week’s USL League One Team of the Week for his part in Omaha’s win last Saturday. Scearce, the team leader in goals, had the game-winning goal over Central Valley Fuego FC. Defensively he added four recoveries, four clearances, and three interceptions, rounding out his Team of the Week performance.
Owls keeper Rashid Nuhu has been amongst the best keepers in USL League One this season. Keeping eight clean sheets this season, five of which have ended in nil-nil draws. Nuhu has only allowed nine goals in the league, with a 78% save percentage this season.
Over recent weeks, Arthur Rogers has been putting on a show for Northern Colorado. The defender has been named to five of the last seven Teams of the Week. Currently, Rogers sits tied for most assists (7) in USL League One and is far and away the league leader in chances created (56).
Northern Colorado keeper Johan Peñaranda is coming off winning July’s USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Month. Peñaranda kept a clean sheet against South Georgia Tormenta FC, his second in the last four Hailstorm matches.
Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. CDT/6:00 p.m. MDT at Werner Park in Papillion, Nebraska. Expect it to be mostly sunny, with the temperature in the 90s at kickoff. This game, as with all USL League One games this season, will be broadcast on ESPN+.
