WINDSOR, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC takes on USL League One leader Greenville Triumph SC Saturday night in Greenville. The Hailstorm are looking to rebound after a disappointing week in Colorado.
Triumph forward Jacob Labovitz has kept himself in the running for this season’s Golden Boot award. He has scored 11 goals in 20 games this season, second to only Emiliano Terzaghi of the Richmond Kickers with 12 goals.
Greenville’s Paul Christensen has been a standout goalkeeper in USL League One this season. In 22 appearances, Christensen has made 55 saves and is leading the league in clean sheets with nine. The Triumph are tied for the third-best defense, only conceding 27 goals on the year.
Wolfgang Prentice has found his way into the Hailstorm starting lineup in the last few weeks. Since the start of August, Prentice has made appearances in all five matches and started four. The Oakland Roots loan player contributed his first assist last week against FC Tucson, linking up with Lachlan McLean, who scored on a header.
Despite losing the last two matches, Northern Colorado finds themselves only three points outside the playoff picture with eight weeks remaining in the season. The club has four more home games to finish the season strong and make a run for a playoff spot.
The kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. EDT/5:00 p.m. MDT at Legacy Early College in Greenville, South Carolina. Expect scattered thunderstorms during the match, with the temperature in the 80s at kickoff. This game, as with all USL League One games this season, will be broadcast on ESPN+.
The future home of Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC, 118-acre Future Legends Complex will feature 6,500-seat TicketSmarter Stadium, 2,500-seat Future Legends Field, multiple baseball diamonds, multi-purpose fields, an indoor sports arena, lodging, and retail; and will host guests for major sports tournaments, events, leagues, and more.
