WINDSOR, Colo. – After a successful first season in USL League One, two Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC players have earned League-wide recognition.
The League announced today that defender Arthur Rogers has been named to the 2022 USL League One All-League First Team and forward Irvin Parra has been named to the 2022 USL League One All-League Second Team.
Rogers played in all 30 League One matches for Northern Colorado, starting in all 30 and totaling 2,665 minutes on the pitch. In that time, the Londoner scored one goal and was credited with nine assists, which was good for second-most assists in the League. Only Jonathan Bolanos of the Richmond Kickers, who had 11 assists, had more assists than Rogers.
Rogers also broke the League One record for most chances created in a single season, finishing the season with 82. He was an effective distributor for the Hailstorm, completing 1,017 passes and finishing the year with 75.6% passing accuracy. He had 62.9% passing accuracy in the opponents’ half. He led the league in crosses with 289. Defensively, Rogers won 31 tackles, and made 66 clearances, 11 blocks and 29 interceptions.
The League recognized Rogers’ chance creation, distribution and defensive abilities all season long. He was nominated for USL League One Player of the Month in September. Though Bolanos ended up winning that award, September saw Rogers create 13 chances for his side, two of which led to assists. Rogers was named to USL League One Team of the Week six times over the course of the 28-week season.
Parra played in 26 of the Hailstorm’s 30 League One matches, starting in 24 of those. He totaled 2,128 minutes on the pitch. The Inglewood, California native finished the year tied for sixth place in the Golden Boot race. Parra, along with Tresor Mbuyu and Khori Bennett of the Charlotte Independence, scored 11 goals on the season. Three of Parra’s goals came on penalty shots.
Parra finished the season with the most shots of any player in the league with 60. Of those 60 shots, 29 are listed as on target. He also contributed five assists and 30 key passes. His passing accuracy was 70.2% with 65.1% accuracy in the opponents’ half. Defensively, Parra made 17 tackles, 10 clearances, two blocks and 11 interceptions.
Parra was consistently recognized by the League for his offensive abilities and goal-scoring tact. He was nominated for USL League One Player of the Month three times, in April, June and August. He was named to the USL League One Team of the Week four times over the course of the 28-week season and was nominated for the USL League One Goal of the Week twice.
Parra won the Goal of the Week award in week five for his header goal at North Carolina that helped the Hailstorm take home all three points. The goal came off a Rogers free kick and Parra placed it perfectly with his head into the back of the goal. His second Goal of the Week nomination also came against North Carolina. This time at home, Parra skillfully chested down a cross and vollied it over the keeper. The goal made number two on ESPN Sports Center, but didn’t have the fan votes to earn him Goal of the Week that week.
More USL League One postseason award nominations are scheduled to be announced this week, with winners scheduled to be announced in the first week of November.
