WINDSOR, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announced today the club has signed Cuban defender Bruno Rendon, pending league and federation approval.
“Bruno is a player with huge potential,” head coach Eamon Zayed said. “He’s already played for his national team and can play numerous positions. Last year, he had some MLS interest, so I’m over the moon to get him on board.”
Rendon spent last year, his first professional season, with AC Syracuse Pulse of NISA.
“It took me a little bit to adjust to the rhythm of playing, but I’m happy how everything ended up,” Rendon said. “I learned a lot of neat things, and I’m excited for a new year at the pro level.”
Just 22 years old, Rendon recognizes there’s still a lot to learn. By joining NoCo, he recognizes he’s joining a group that can help him do it.
“These guys have believed in me since the beginning,” he said. “I’m excited to know new players and new coaches, to keep learning and keep upgrading my knowledge of football. I see a future with these guys.”
As for the near future, expect the powerful fullback to both learn alongside and uplift Hailstorm’s back line.
“He’s going to be quite the handful for opposing teams,” Zayed said. “He’ll add speed, strength and a directness to his game that is refreshing.”
