WINDSOR, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announced today the re-signing of Arthur Rogers, the 2022 Defender of the Year in League One, pending league and federation approval.
Rogers’ 2022 season, his first playing exclusively in defense, was perhaps the best individual season a defender has had in the young history of League One.
The Londoner logged 80 chances created, easily setting a single-season league record by a defender. He notched nine assists, also a new single-season record by a defender. Three of those assists created a game-winning goal.
Not to mention Rogers recorded an unreal 289 crosses, another league high. The second-best total was 211.
“Arthur was fantastic for us last year. He’s our MVP, and he rightly got that award on our team,” head coach Eamon Zayed said. “We’re super amped to have him back.”
The club’s sparkplug started all 30 League One matches, one of just seven players in the entire league to do so.
He distributes. He defends. He’s durable. He’s determined to produce the same results in 2023.
“I’m expecting to reach those same standards or more,” he said. “I’m not coming for anything less.”
Rogers is back where he belongs, meaning he once again belongs to a bunch with big plans for the upcoming campaign.
“We’re coming for a lot. We have high expectations of ourselves,” Rogers said. “It was a no-brainer for me to come back again. Great group of people, but also a great group of players. I truly believe that this season we will show that.”
