WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC forward Trevor Amann has been named USL League One’s Player of the Month for May. He is the first Hailstorm player to win the award.
In three games in May, all Hailstorm wins, Amann scored five goals and added an assist, vaulting himself to the top of the league’s Golden Boot race. He was also named in the USL League One Team of the Week after all three matches.
“It’s special for me but it’s really a testament to the guys. We went undefeated and I scored some goals, just doing my job,” Amann said.
Amann’s five goals in May match his total from 2022, his first professional season. He opened the month with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over One Knoxville FC and followed it up with a pair of braces in wins over Forward Madison FC and Central Valley Fuego FC.
“Trevor always seems to be at the right place at the right time on the end of crosses and passes, it’s a gift that he has,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Zayed also noted that Amann is more than just a pure goal scorer, contributing to Hailstorm FC’s success in multiple phases of play.
“He works his socks off for the team,” Zayed said. “Chases defenders, harries defenders, puts pressure on defenders. He’s a proper team player.”
Amann and his Hailstorm teammates will be back in action Saturday against South Georgia Tormenta FC and return to Future Legends Field to take on Central Valley Fuego FC on June 24.
