WINDSOR, Colo. — A chance to avenge their lone loss of the USL League One season and solidify their place at the top of the table beckons when Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC welcome Union Omaha to Future Legends Field on Saturday.
Despite a brace from USL League One Golden Boot leader Trevor Amann, Hailstorm dropped their first matchup with Omaha this season 3-2 after midfielder Stefan Lukic picked up his second yellow card and was sent off in the 15th minute.
“Tomorrow’s not about revenge or redemption,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said. “It’s just another game, a game we’re playing at home. We want to continue to make our home a fortress.”
Hailstorm are unbeaten at Future Legends Field this season, having won four of their five home matches. They are also on a run of 10 matches unbeaten since their loss to the Owls in April.
One challenge Omaha presents is forward Noe Meza, who currently sits second in the Golden Boot race with nine goals. He scored twice against Hailstorm FC earlier this season.
“He has really good movement in the box,” Hailstorm defender Brecc Evans said of Meza. “For 90 minutes straight he makes runs in behind, never takes a play off, he’s kind of a center back’s worst nightmare.”
Hailstorm and Omaha are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. Mountain time Saturday at Future Legends Field.
