WINDSOR, Colo. — After their match in June was postponed by heavy rain and lightning, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will make a return trip to Georgia to take on South Georgia Tormenta FC on Wednesday.
Hailstorm trailed 1-0 at halftime when the match was stopped on June 17, but on Wednesday the match will be restarted with a 0-0 scoreline.
“In the first half in June, Tormenta had started really well and we struggled to deal with their strong start. Now we get a chance to run that game back,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said.
The trip in June was actually not Hailstorm’s first trek to Georgia this season, as they took home a 3-0 win against Tormenta on April 1, with goals from Rob Cornwall, Nortei Nortey, and Marky Hernández.
“In April, we were really good defensively and we created a lot of chances on transitions,” Hailstorm midfielder Stefan Lukic said. “Tormenta are very good offensively, if we stop them going forward I believe, I’m sure, we will win.”
The match Wednesday is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 p.m. Mountain time and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
