WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will look to end their six-match unbeaten run where it began, at WakeMed Soccer Park, when they face North Carolina FC on Saturday.
“It’s a good opportunity to show some character,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Hailstorm dropped a 2-0 decision to the USL League One leaders in July, with goals from Louis Perez and Oalex Anderson, who is now second in the Golden Boot race to Northern Colorado’s Trevor Amann.
North Carolina is in a similar place to where Hailstorm were heading into the first matchup between the two clubs, sitting at the top of the league with a 10-match unbeaten run.
Despite the strength of the opposition and his team’s recent struggles, Zayed said he gained confidence in a result after Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against South Georgia Tormenta FC.
“If we play like we did in the second half on Wednesday with the character, resilience, the bravery on the ball, I think we’ll stand a good chance of taking the three points,” Zayed said.
Hailstorm and NCFC are scheduled to kick off at 5 p.m. Saturday in Cary, N.C. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
