WINDSOR, Colo. — After putting in his best performance in a Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC shirt in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Charlotte Independence, defender Noah Powder has been named USL League One Player of the Week for Week 25.
Playing in a more attacking role than usual, Powder scored his first goal for the club in the win and provided a pair of assists, bringing his total to four on the season.
“It’s been good to help the team and contribute to the playoff run,” Powder said.
Powder’s contributions to Sunday’s match started early, as he provided the assist for Trevor Amann’s sixth-minute goal that both gave Hailstorm the lead and set a new USL League One single-season goals record.
In the second half, Powder turned from provider to scorer. Just two minutes after Charlotte equalized for the second time in the match, Powder cut in on his left foot and unleashed a screamer from 20 yards out past Independence goalkeeper Austin Pack in the 79th minute.
The icing on the cake came in the 96th minute when Powder found Marky Hernández for a goal in the final minute of the match to secure the Hailstorm win.
Powder and Hailstorm FC are back in action at 7 p.m. tomorrow against Lexington SC at Future Legends Field.
