WINDSOR, Colo. — It will be a matchup of the top two teams in USL League One when North Carolina FC visits Future Legends Field to take on Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC on Saturday.
“If you can’t get excited for this kind of game, you shouldn’t be in the sport,” Hailstorm head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Hailstorm enter the pivotal matchup on an eight-match unbeaten run fueled by four goals each from Marky Hernández and USL League One Golden Boot leader Trevor Amann.
“I feel good, I feel like I’ve been helping the team with my work rate as well,” Amann said.
The closest player to Amann in the Golden Boot race is NCFC’s Oalex Anderson, who has scored 14 goals this year and added six assists. Anderson will face the task of going against Hailstorm goalkeeper Lalo Delgado, who has kept three clean sheets in the last eight matches, including the last two matches against Forward Madison FC and Central Valley Fuego FC.
“Lalo started the season well, and it looks like he’s better than he was then,” Zayed said.
Hailstorm and NCFC kick off at 7 p.m. Mountain time at Future Legends Field.
