WINDSOR, Colo. — For the third time in five weeks, a Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC player has been named the USL League One Player of the Week, and this time it took Trevor Amann just five minutes to earn the award.
Amann scored a brace, his seventh of the season, in Hailstorm’s 2-0 win over Greenville Triumph SC. His two goals came in the 27th and 31st minutes and pushed his record-setting goal tally for the season to 22.
“He could have stayed at 20 and won Golden Boot, MVP, whatever,” Hailstorm head coach Éamon Zayed said. “But he worked his socks off on Friday and when you do that you get the rewards.”
With the assist on Amann’s second goal, Arthur Rogers also earned himself Team of the Week honors for the fourth week in a row. The assist was Rogers’ 11th of the season, tying the USL League One single-season record. Rogers also recorded three chances created against Greenville to move to 82 on the season, breaking the league record he set last season.
Amann, Rogers, and Hailstorm are back in action this Saturday night at Future Legends Field against Forward Madison FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
