WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announce that goalkeeper Lalo Delgado has been re-signed to a multi-year deal, pending League and Federation approval.
Delgado was a finalist for USL League One’s Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2023, his first season with Hailstorm, after tying a league record with 13 clean sheets in his 30 league games.
“I’m really glad and thankful to the coaching staff and everyone at the club for the opportunity to return,” Delgado said.
He allowed just 1.07 goals per game in the regular season, narrowly losing out to One Knoxville SC’s Sean Lewis in the league’s Golden Glove race.
“For me, he was the best goalkeeper in the league,” Hailstorm head coach Éamon Zayed said. “Thirteen clean sheets, best defensive record in the league, bringing him back is going to be massive for us.”
In the regular season, Delgado made four penalty saves, setting a USL League One record not only for a single season, but for a career. He made 88 saves overall in the regular season and playoff combined, tied for second in the league.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have him back,” Zayed said.
