WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announce that defender David García has been signed for 2024, pending League and Federation approval.
Garcia was a USL League One champion with North Carolina FC in 2023, his first professional season. Notably, he scored a pair of goals in the USL League One semifinals against Hailstorm, knocking them out of the playoffs. He also played a key role in NCFC’s lone goal in the USL League One Final.
“When I scouted North Carolina last season, he was one where I couldn’t find many holes in his game,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Prior to joining NCFC, Garcia played four years at FIU, captaining the Golden Panthers to their first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in nearly 20 years in 2022. He was also a captain at youth level with the Under-19 team at RCD Mallorca in his native Spain.
He now joins a Hailstorm back line that allowed the fewest goals in USL League One in 2023.
“I wanted to join Hailstorm because I want to win another championship, and I know that this team has the potential to do so,” Garcia said.
