WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC announce that midfielder Isidro “Chelo” Martinez has been signed for the 2024 season, pending League and Federation approval.
Martinez comes to Hailstorm from fellow USL League One club Forward Madison FC, whom he helped lead to the playoffs in 2023.
“He’s a quality player,” Hailstorm FC head coach Éamon Zayed said. “When last season ended he was on the top of my list as far as guys I wanted to add.”
Martinez played 27 times for Madison last season, scoring a goal and adding three assists. He was in the top 10 in USL League One with 43 chances created and contributed defensively with 33 interceptions and 32 tackles won.
Prior to his time in Madison, Martinez played four seasons in the USL Championship, making 81 appearances for Rio Grande Valley and 30 for New Mexico United, making the playoffs with Rio Grande Valley in 2022.
He will provide a veteran presence in the Hailstorm midfield and brings winning experience to the club in 2024.
“I think I was brought here to win championships, and that’s the goal,” Martinez said.
