WINDSOR, Colo. — A pair of Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC defenders were named in the USL League One Team of the Week for the first week of the 2024 season.
Lucky Opara earned Team of the Week honors to start the season, helping Hailstorm earn a clean sheet in their 0-0 draw against Lexington SC with four duels won and two tackles won while completing 81 percent of his passes.
A regular in the Team of the Week last season, Bruno Rendon was also named in the initial Team of the Week for 2024. Rendon had a shot on target late against Lexington while contributing three clearances, two tackles won, and an interception to the Hailstorm defensive effort.
Opara, Rendon, and the rest of the Hailstorm squad now turn to U.S. Open Cup action at 6 p.m. next Tuesday at Tulsa Athletic. They will return to league play on March 23 against Spokane Velocity FC.
