WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC forwards Real Gill and Noah Powder have been called up by the Trinidad & Tobago national team to face Canada in a 2024 Copa America Qualifier on March 23.
“It’s a great honor for them. Playing international football is a tremendous achievement,” said Hailstorm head coach Éamon Zayed, who played eight times for Libya.
Gill made his Hailstorm debut Saturday against Lexington SC in the club’s season-opening 0-0 draw. He has played six times for his country, most recently in a 2-1 win over the United States on November 21, 2023.
“I like these big games. It’s when we see how good we are,” Gill said.
Powder is in his second season in Northern Colorado, having scored three times and added five assists for Hailstorm in 2023. He has 19 caps for Trinidad & Tobago in his career.
“It’s one of the biggest games in the last 20 years for our country,” Powder said. “So it’s definitely an honor and an experience that we won’t take for granted.”
Gill and Powder will miss Hailstorm’s U.S. Open Cup First Round match at Tulsa Athletic on March 19 and their USL League One clash against Spokane Velocity FC on March 23.
The winner between Trinidad & Tobago and Canada will qualify for Group A in the 2024 Copa America alongside Argentina, Peru, and Chile. The match will take place at 2 p.m Mountain time on March 23 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
