WINDSOR, Colo. — After more than a month of playing matches exclusively in the USL Jägermeister Cup, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC will return to USL League One play against Union Omaha Saturday.
“It’s been strange this year with the gaps between league games, so we’re going to try to find some rhythm in the league,” Hailstorm head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Hailstorm are unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, including a 2-2 draw in Omaha in the Cup on May 1 and a 5-1 win over One Knoxville SC on May 11. They had a season-high 31 shots last week against Charlotte Independence.
“Getting that win against Knoxville and building off that performance has been really good for our confidence,” Hailstorm midfielder Pat Langlois said.
Langlois was named in the Team of the Round in the most recent round of the USL Jägermeister Cup along with teammates Bruno Rendon and Chelo Martinez. Zayed was named the Coach of the Round for the second-consecutive round, signaling the team’s uptick in form.
“May was good,” Zayed said. “We scored nine goals, averaged 20-21 shots a game, and our xG was higher than any team in the league.”
The match in Omaha kicks off at 6 p.m. Mountain time Saturday and can be watched live on ESPN+.
