WINDSOR, Colo. — Despite complete domination in every statistical category, Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC could not find a goal in a 0-0 draw with Chattanooga Red Wolves SC.
“They didn’t really come in to attack us, we didn’t really have much to defend, so I’d be shocked if we hadn’t gotten a clean sheet,” Hailstorm coach Colin Falvey said.
Hailstorm had 74 percent possession in the match and out-shot Chattanooga 32-4, but just could not find the breakthrough, hitting the post on multiple occasions.
“It felt like one of those nights where we tried everything and it just wasn’t our night,” Hailstorm midfielder Jackson Dietrich said.
Hailstorm goalkeeper Lalo Delgado earned his fifth clean sheet of the season, making fine saves midway through the second half on Chattanooga’s only two shots on target of the match.
“You’ve got to stay in tuned, stay focused, and be ready to make a save when called upon,” Delgado said.
Hailstorm will now turn their focus to the USL Jägermeister Cup Final against Forward Madison FC, which will take place at 7 p.m. next Saturday at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium.
