WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC swept the USL League One honors for Week 22, with head coach Eamon Zayed named Coach of the week and goalkeeper Lalo Delgado named Player of the Week.
In addition to his Player of the Week honors, Delgado was one of a club-record eight Hailstorm players named in the Team of the Week.
Zayed takes home his first Coach of the Week award this season after leading Hailstorm to back-to-back wins over Central Valley Fuego FC and South Georgia Tormenta FC and clinching a playoff spot in the process. The two wins also followed up Hailstorm lifting the USL Jägermeister Cup last week, the first silverware in club history.
Delgado was a key piece in the two Hailstorm wins, as well. He kept a pair of clean sheets and made 15 saves across the two matches, his seven clean sheets in USL League One play this season put him just one behind league leader Bernd Schipmann. He is the first goalkeeper to earn Player of the Week honors in USL League One this season.
Among the seven outfield players to earn Team of the Week honors this week is Marky Hernández, who scored his first brace in Hailstorm colors in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Tormenta.
Hailstorm’s other goalscorers in Week 22, Ethan Hoard, Danny Robles, and Noah Powder, all earned Team of the Week honors as well, with Robles adding an assist to his goal for good measure.
The final three Team of the Week honorees for Hailstorm all provided assists during the week, as David Garcia, Chelo Martinez, and Bruno Rendon were all named to the Team of the Week.
Hailstorm will be back in action Saturday night as they embark on their final road trip of the 2024 season, traveling to North Carolina to take on Charlotte Independence. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 5 p.m. Mountain time and the match can be streamed live on ESPN+.
