WINDSOR, Colo. — With a playoff berth in hand, Northern Colorado Hailstorm will hit the road for the final time in the 2024 regular season as the travel to face Charlotte Independence on Saturday.
Hailstorm are unbeaten in their last four matches, having allowed just one goal in that stretch. They clinched a USL League One playoff berth with a 4-0 win over South Georgia Tormenta FC last weekend.
“We’ve done a really, really good job defensively over the last month,” Hailstorm FC head coach Eamon Zayed said.
Charlotte have struggled a bit recently, as they are without a win in their last five matches in all competitions. They did, however, defeat Hailstorm earlier this season, taking home a 1-0 win on a goal from USL League One Golden Boot leader JC Oregon, despite the hosts holding a 19-8 advantage in shots.
“Recently, they’ve had a couple results that they maybe want to make right,” Zayed said. “But Obregon, he’s been fantastic. Scores all types of goals, our defense will have to be on their toes to keep him quiet.
Hailstorm and Charlotte kick off at 5 p.m. Mountain time tomorrow in Charlotte. The match can be streamed live on ESPN+.
