WINDSOR, Colo. — For the second time in Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC’s undefeated month of October, head coach Éamon Zayed has been named the USL League One Coach of the Week.
Zayed led Hailstorm to a 1-0 win over Forward Madison FC, clinching the second seed in the USL League One playoffs and making it five wins in five matches in October. Zayed was also named Coach of the Week in Week 22, a week that saw Hailstorm net a pair of wins over Central Valley Fuego FC and South Georgia Tormenta FC.
Joining Zayed in earning weekly honors from the league is defender Bruno Rendon, who was named in the Team of the Week for the 11th time this season.
Rendon scored the lone goal of the match against Madison, his sixth of the season in the league and 15th in all competitions. In addition to the goal, Rendon won eight duels and a pair of tackles. He also made two clearances and two interceptions.
Zayed, Rendon and the rest of the Hailstorm squad will now head into the USL League One playoffs, which start at 7 p.m. Saturday against Spokane Velocity FC at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium.
