WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC defender Bruno Rendon, goalkeeper Lalo Delgado, and head coach Éamon Zayed have been nominated for USL League One awards for the 2024 season.
Rendon is nominated for a pair of league awards this season, both Defender of the Year and Player of the Year. He scored six goals and added two assists this season while leading the league with 169 duels won. He also created 22 chances and made 35 clearances and 14 interceptions. He was also named to the USL League One Team of the Week 11 times.
Hailstorm won both the Defender and Player of the Year awards last season with Arthur Rogers and Trevor Amann, respectively. Rogers also won Defender of the Year in 2022, meaning Rendon has a chance to make Hailstorm three-for-three in winning that award.
Delgado is nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year for the second-straight season. After watching Charlotte’s Austin Pack claim the honor in 2023, Delgado tied for the league lead with nine clean sheets in 2024 and cut his goals against average from 1.07 last season to 0.82 this year. He made 46 saves, allowing just 18 goals in league play in 2024 and in October became the first goalkeeper to win USL League One Player of the Month since 2019.
USL League One’s Coach of the Month for October, Zayed has been nominated for Coach of the Year in back-to-back seasons. Zayed led Hailstorm to a club-best second place finish in 2024, accumulating 41 points and a +17 goal differential in 22 matches. Hailstorm lost just one of their final 12 regular season matches in 2024, with only one multi-goal loss all season.
The USL League One award winners will be announced at a later date that is to be determined.
