WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC forward Ethan Hoard has been named the USL League One Player of the Month for August.
Hoard scored two goals and recorded an assist in three league matches for Hailstorm in August, and also won a penalty in their 1-1 draw against South Georgia Tormenta FC.
“It’s not just an individual performance, my teammates make me look good,” Hoard said.
He tallied a goal and an assist in Hailstorm’s 3-0 win over Greenville on August 25, helping them wrap up an unbeaten month in league play. He also scored in Hailstorm’s 3-1 win over Richmond to kick off the month. The three goal contributions brought his total to 18 on the season in all competitions.
It was more than just goal contributions in August for Hoard, as he won 12 duels, put five shots on target, and created four chances in the three matches, helping Hailstorm move from eighth to sixth in the league table.
“I think if you ask the guys what they appreciate most about Ethan, it’s the work rate he puts in and how much of a handful he is for opposing defenses, because that allows other players to play off of him and find space,” Hailstorm head coach Éamon Zayed said.
Hoard and Hailstorm will look to continue their seven-match unbeaten run when they host Lexington SC at 7 p.m. Saturday at 4Rivers Equipment Stadium.
